About Me

As far back as she can remember Aurelie de Sousa has been drawing.

She spent her formative years in France and then Portugal, where she would later go on to undertake a degree in Graphic Design at the Fine Arts University in Lisbon.

After a period working as a graphic designer and video mapper, Aurelie returned to her true passion of illustration spending several years as a free-lance illustrator working for the major publishers in Portugal. During this time she illustrated dozens of educational and children's books. Her most famous work is “Viuva e o Papagaio”, a required-reading book for all children of the seventh grade.

In 2017 she moved to South Africa where she took inspiration from the massive landscapes and beautiful wildlife, continuing to work as a freelancer. In the beginning of 2021 she packed her things for a fourth time and came to live in Adelaide, Australia.

After over 10 years of illustration in digital format, she has decided to get her hands dirty and dive into the world of oils and canvases.
